Born in Rock Hill, SC Matt Tucker was raised on country music. Raised in a very musically inclined family, Tucker has always loved to sing and in 2008 decided to get serious with it. He began playing in honkytonks around Rock Hill, SC with his father and soon he was breaking out as a solo artist playing acoustic gigs. While putting together his first band a couple of years later, he began to realize his full potential and started on his journey to Nashville. Matt is influenced by some of country music’s most known legends (George Strait, Alan Jackson, Johnny Cash, Conway Twitty) and modern artists (Jake Owen, Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Garth Brooks) just to name a few and his southern upbringing definitely shines through his songs. His music reflects the new country phase but with some ol’ traditional ways. 2013 was a great year for Matt, he and all the folks behind the scenes have been making lots of friends in Music City (Nashville, TN.) In October, 2013 Tucker became a SESAC affiliate known as Guitbox Publishing referred in by Hall of Fame songwriter, Sam Tate. Soon after he released a 4 song “EP” recorded in Nashville at Midtown Studio with Pat Holt producing and engineering. In December of 2013 a big CD release party at one of the Southeast’s premier country night clubs (Coyote Joes in Charlotte, NC) helped spark his self written single “Tonight” to take hold and star getting radio airplay. Lately, Matt and the band are continuing to grow and work very hard. They are getting ready to hit the studio again soon to record new music and expand to a regional Country act including a possible permanent move to Nashville. So far, 2014 has been a great year for MTB, they are touring the Carolinas and surrounding area promoting Matt’s new EP released in October of 2013. Touring is a job but it’s fun and has it’s perks; recently Matt landed the biggest festival in his home area, the “Come See Me Festival.” Come See Me is a two week event culminating in a huge all day tailgate party with food, beverages, games, and music. Matt and the band headlined this show to a record setting fifty plus thousand people, the largest crowd in the 30 year history of the festival. It’s safe to say Matt’s hometown has his back, and he has theirs as he stated, “Respect is earned where given, and we can’t do this without you… the friends/fans.” Matt continues to work hard to put together a crowd pleasing high energy show that showcases his own songs as well as covering old favorites and current day hits. He is currently one of the “Carolinas” top independent Country acts, and is starting to take hold regionally. Tucker plans to bring the package until the receiver is found. Look out for MT “Country Rockin” a town near you! Stay tuned for there will be a lot more out of this very driven and admirable young man in the Country Music Industry.
